Licensed Professional Counselor, Shannon Hays of Family Service Association of Bucks County, spoke to our class about many different topics regarding recovery and ways to help support those in recovery.
Hays started off by telling the class about herself. She is in long-term recovery and isn’t ashamed of her past because she came out a stronger person. She is a counselor for those who are in addiction recovery and also eating disorders as well. She has worked with families of addiction. One common theme that always comes up according to Hays, is communication. Communication is important.
This theme has led me to really explore about Family Therapy can be helpful for those in recovery and most of all those who are able to have this option.
