This class really opened my eyes to what Solutions Journalism is, and how it can be used to cover addiction. One of the most important things I learned in the class was the importance of person-first language, and it should be used at all costs when writing a story about addiction.
I think the guest speakers were the most important aspect of the class, as they showed us what they do, and how they intersect with other speakers that came to our class. As for my reporting, this story was the first of its kind for me in my journalism career, and I am glad to have done it. I gained knowledgeable experience, along with learning a lot that I hope will help me as I develop into a professional journalist upon graduation next May.
