I enjoyed listening to Barb on Thursday when she came to speak to our class. She discussed her journey, and her experiences through her living in a recovery house, up until now, as she owns 13 recovery houses around the area. Her perspective was interesting and relevant as we also heard Fred Way speak on Tuesday about the codes and requirements of funning a certified recovery house.
Barb’s houses are above and beyond when it comes to the quality, and conditions in the houses that she runs. This is important as we heard the story of a woman who had been dead for six days in a recovery house before anyone found her. I think what she is doing is great for the recovery house community, making an example of how the houses are supposed to be run.
