One of the major theories I took away from yesterday’s guest speaker was what drugs like heroin and other opiate based drugs do to the body. I now have a better understanding of what drugs like heroin do to the brain, and how they affect a person’s everyday life. Dave was able to explain things at a level that made it easier to understand what these drugs do to the body and the brain.
The other major thing I took away was the main purpose of Dave’s visit, to learn how, and when to use Narcan. He discussed how long to wait in between uses, depending on whether or not the person is responding, and whether or not they have a pulse or are breathing. Knowing how and when to use Narcan will be valuable for me if I ever am in the situation where I have to use it.
