I found the presentation by Chas Carlson, Eric Miller, Craig Hall, and Joe Sobol was a good glimpse into how addiction, and specifically overdose, is being handled and perceived by first responders.

An interesting point that was discussed is that the medical industry and first responders are constantly playing catch up when it comes to facing addiction and overdose. They are continually having to learn more about the drugs, and also how to handle victims.

One problem with the presentation is the language used by Craig Hall. He was the first person to use the term junkie this year when not discussing the issues surrounding the word. This instance highlighted the importance of using person-first language and how words like junkie carry an unwanted stigma, and should not be used.
